Where is Kas?

No it isn't some game. I am very concerned about Kas, as are all of the TM2 members! Kas hasn't signed into our group or any of the ebay dicussion boards since early December. I have know Kas almost 2 years now and she has never just gone missing. Kas posted on our TM2 board about her dh grandmother dieing and having to travel out of town for the funeral. She came back from the funeral and then posted about being sick and not feeling well. That is the last we have heard from Kas. If you can tell us anything about Kas or can provide us with Kas's phone number we would so greatly appreciate it. Please EMAIL us if you know anything! We are really worried about our friend. Thank you SO MUCH for your help in helping us find Kas!

What is your favorite thing that you have done for the holiday season?

I still have holiday coming...BUT so far it would have to be my pumpkin patch overalls...

How long have you been sewing (on and off ebay)?

I made my first doll quilt in the 7th grade! heehee I have been seriously sewing on ebay now for going on 3 yrs!!

Who taught you to sew?

My mother and my sweet friend Candi have been wonderful minds to pick. Other than that I am self-taught through trial and error.

Any favorite sewing memories? I love my serger!!!!

How would you describe your style?

All over the map! I love FUNKY and shabby chic. Anything girly girl!

What is the best thing anyone has said about your work? The owner of the pumpkin overalls told me she had them hanging in her lil girls room on a fancy hanger...and that she felt like she had a Monet because of all the hits/attention it got. Being a Monet LOVER that really made me happy.

What do you think about the ebay boutique community?

I love the community!! I was selling for a year before I discovered the boards...my sales have gone up a lot...and I am in constant awe of the talent out here!!! I LOVE doing launches!!!

What would you be doing if you did not sew??

Cleaning my house!!

Happy Birthday to Pspabcs

Ever look at an auction and see wonderful photos with great effects on them, sparkle, a great frame, soft warm glow, well those effects could have been created using the very popular Paint Shop Pro. Today marks the ONE YEAR anniversary of the group I started, Pspabcs, to help beginners learn how to go about creating wonderful effects in Paint Shop Pro. It is a small intimitate group and has always been busy with new post daily from members sharing their work and asking how to questions that are always answered quickly, lots of times by myself or by my GREAT mods Tammy of Painted*Patooties and Theresa of angelkiss-designs .THANKS so much guys for your help. I couldn't have done it without you. The Pspabcs board has really grown and prospered over the past year and I know is going to get even better with every passing day.

The Pspabcs Board has grown so much that I have recently had to move the board off ebay because we need to grow and accomplish task that just are not possible to accomplish keeping the Pspabcs board on ebay. If you are new to Paint Shop Pro or would just like to learn a bit more, or even need questions answered in a simple to understand manner, consider joining the Pspabcs Discussion Board. Designer Chat with Kim Snugglebug*boutique!

What is your favorite thing that you have done for the holiday season?

My current favorite is the Christmas Hello Kitty set that I have listed now! Both my girls LOVE Hello Kitty - so this outfit is a BIG hit with them! But, I am working on a set now, made with the most awesome silk dupioni and embroidered silk taffeta (a bit of a departure for me) - and it is quickly moving to the top of my "Favorites" list!!

What do you think about the ebay boutique community?

I think that the Ebay Boutique community is such a fantastic little world - full of the most creative people and amazing creations! I love when I can introduce someone from the "outside" world to the wonders that the Custom Boutique world of Ebay holds. And, I get so tickled when I see styles and design ideas in mainstream childrens fashions, that I know were first introduced in the Ebay Boutique community. Makes me feel like I am part of the cutting edge of a fashion movement!

What would you be doing if you did not sew??

Not sew.... PERISH the thought! LOL! Honestly, I would probably be driving my husband crazy re-decorating the house. Gotta have a creative outlet!

What inspires you to make your creations?

It is tough to narrow this one down! I get my inspiration from so many sources... My kids mainly - things they are interested in, books they are reading, characters they love. I am also a total Fabric-a-holic and get totally inspired by all the wonderful fabrics that there are! I have so much fabric in my "stash" that I could probably sew for the next 2 years without actually buying any new fabric! I also have been inspired by a great pair of SHOES!

Denim is a Girls Best Friend

I came across this article "Denim is a Girls Best Friend" while reading the Road Runner's, my internet service provider, Home Page. I thought it was a fun article about denim and I thought I would share it with our blog readers.

Whether having a bad day curled up on the sofa with a good book, doing yard work, or painting the town indigo, denim can be with you in good times and bad.

Let's take a moment to examine this fashion friend.

Denim is a fabric made from cotton defined by its weave and density. The word "denim" originated in Nimes, France (the fabric was called de Nimes or of Nimes) where a cotton fabric was dyed indigo blue. Of course, the most popular use of denim is for jeans, its name modeled after the French pronunciation of Genoa, Italy.

Although denim had an early start in Europe, jeans caught on as utilitarian clothing in the 18th century as the hard-labor demands of a blossoming America required clothing that resisted wear. As jeans evolved, details were added to increase the garment's functionality, such as rivets to fasten pockets more securely.

This innovative piece of clothing was introduced internationally by soldiers during World War II and through movies like westerns. Celebrities, like James Dean, turned denim into a "fad" by wearing it as a rebellious style to the conservative taste of the time. They lost favor in the 90s (upstaged by their brother, the chino), only to return with a vengeance as high end designers adopted heavily detailed jeans and broke away from the traditional 100% cotton, combining fabrication with a variety of tears, whisker fading, washes and a mark up that makes even the oil industry blush.

The trend for jeans has changed over the last 200 years to span every gender, age group, and economic bracket. Long gone are the days when they were dedicated as the chosen costume for the working men. Women wear denim as an essential piece to bars and social events, or just around the house. Jeans are even sported by most of Corporate America on Fridays.

Just a WRONG click away

Be honest, have you ever been tempted to right click on something cool that you've seen on eBay or the internet? Of course we've all done it. Let's be honest about it. Right clicking has made it pretty easy for everyone to get pictures or graphics and save them to our own computers. Now, once we have the picture, does it make it ours? Of course not.
The eBay boutique community is filled with all kinds of creative people, those who sew, those who paint, make jewelery, bows, purses as well as graphic artists.
There is a growing group of indivduals on eBay who've started selling graphic work and templates on eBay. There are people who've been there from the start and those just starting out new.
Copying has become a major issue amoung the boutique community. There's nothing worse than a designer seeing HER design duplicated by another seller. Copying can be pretty hard to prove sometimes of course.
Graphics are a little different however.

Did you know that a graphic designer(someone who does logos, ME pages, templates) knows if something is theirs by the html CODE. When someone innocently right clicks on html for a template and then substitutes in their own backgrounds in the spaces that it's still copying?
Sure they might not be using that designers graphics but at times they are using that person's bandwidth and often might leave behind remnants of that designers html notes.

A group of fairly well known boutique graphic artists have banded together to form a group called the Graphic Artist for the Integrity of Copyright.
All of these designers have decided to band together and look out for potential copyright issues with both graphics, backgrounds as well as html code. We have a logo that we will display on our ME pages as well. We have all agreed to watch out for one another. If we see that someone may have stolen one of our members graphics or html code we will be notifying that designer immediately. It's like a neighborhood watch for graphics in a way.

Please, we all ask you that right clicking on templates and graphics is no different that copying someone elses clothing design. We work hard to not break copyright ourselves when we are creating our graphics to sell.

What is your favorite thing that you have designed for the holiday season?

I had so much fun doing the Zuma pants and the Hermosa top for the Chocolate launch with a group of fantastic designers.

Who taught you to sew?

I am self taught. I wanted something different for my daughter to wear instead of the same old same old outfits you can buy in the mall. So off I went cutting fabric and sewing.

I have been going to classes to learn different techniques. My next technique I will be learning is smocking I am excited I have a fabulous lady to teach me who has been doing it for years:)

Any favorite sewing memories?

Every time I make my daughter a outfit she always hugs and kisses it this always makes all the hard work worth every minute of it.

How would you describe your style?

Fun Girly Comfortable and very pleasing to the eye

What do you think about the ebay boutique community?

The Ebay Boutique Community is a fabulous thing to discover but it is hard at the same time to get your name out there. I have met some fantastic people that I call good friends now . There have been some ladies that have helped me so much and you know who you are I just want to say thanks again:)

I started a new launch group called IrisRue and there are some fantastic ladies who are members in the group and we are having a Launch Nov 9th with guests who are amazing designers:)

Interview with Daisy-Head-Maisy!

How would you describe your style?

My tag line is "get your fun on" if it’s not fun, I don’t make it! LOL!

How long have you been designing? (on and off ebay)

I have been designing for about 15 years, it all started when I made my own accesories for my wedding, and blossomed into my boutique creations over a year ago when I began offering them on Ebay.

Any favorite designing memories?

As a child, each year at Christmas, my Mom and I would choose a craft to make for all of my aunts for their Christmas gifts~sometimes it would be ornaments, or jewelry, or magnets for their fridge. It always felt great to give them something from the heart~they seemed to appreciate it more than a store bought gift and it was a nice chance to spend some quality time with my mom too.

Tell us about the Wounded Warriors fund and your brother Will?

Since the end of June, Daisy-Head-Maisy has donated over $400 to an awesome foundation called Wounded Warriors. I am doing this on my own (and not through ebay) but I donate 10% of all my ebay sales and occasionally throw in more to this great organization that helps wounded marines. This organization provides vacations to marines and their families (or survivors) to cool places like Disney World~and I can’t say enough good things about them. It is run by Colonel Folsom, a true American hero. You can check out their site at

In June, one of my two brothers who are United States Marines was seriously wounded in combat in Iraq. His name is Will and he is 23 years old. He has come to live with our family while he is recovering it is a miracle that he is even with us at all and each day it is such a HUGE blessing to watch him make strides and recover from his injuries. It has been a really long haul for him and he is still facing some serious challenges but we are very proud of him and have received so much prayer support and friendship from our friends in the ebay boutique community. Thanks to all of you that email and ask how he’s doing!

Prayers Needed for Ruthann

Prayers are need for Ruthann many of you know her as rcs-corner leader of the boutique group discussion board Boutique Customs Mini Mall she was admitted to ICU for Congestive Heart Failure last night. I was made aware of Ruthann's serious condition by an email by one of the mods from the BCMM board. I have known Ruthann for quite awhile now and she is such a nice gal you couldn't meet anyone more helpful. My prayers are with both Ruthann and her husband Joe.

She is VERY VERY Ill. Her Heart is only functioning at 20% and she has an infection in her heart as well. They are doing an angiogram tomorrow[October 26] on her. If she has less than 3 blockages they will remove the blockages. If she has more than 3, they will have to do heart bipass surgery. She broke down in tears on the phone today, She and Joe are VERY scared right now.

Have you ever wondered what the importance of having a ME page on eBay is? Well, there are a number of reasons why you may want to consider having one. EBay has become extremely competitive, especially in the world of boutique children’s clothing and accessories. Presenting yourself professionally has become increasingly important. You could be a wonderful seamstress, painter or bow maker but if the presentation you display on eBay is not professional, then buyers may pass you by.

It’s like the store with the fabulous shop window, buyers will stop to look at the shop in the store if it attracts their attention, they may browse or linger longer on your auctions or store if you have something that holds their interest. Otherwise, they may walk on by. This concept is the same on eBay, there has to be a way of drawing your customer’s in in the somewhat impersonal world of the internet.

The latest fonts are pretty cool but they can be a nightmare for someone who has a smaller screen. Also, if the person reading your ME page does not have that particular font installed on their computer as well, they won't see your fancy font anyway. You are probably better off keeping your font to one of the basic styles that most people have on their computers.

2.)Keep a good contrast between your font and background but no sooo much that it hurts to read it. Also remember not to make your pictures too large , not everyone has a huge monitor and some parts may go off the screen. If you are not sure what your pictures or font look like to others on their computers, have one of your friend’s or family read it on their computer so see how it looks. What may look fine on your monitor may not look very good at all on someone elses.

3.)Check grammar and spelling, yes it's important! Spell check is a marvellous invention:)

2)Brag about yourself! In order to sell your products have to talk about why others should buy from you. Why not talk about the care you take into making your items or that your home, is clean, smoke-free, pet-free, etc. if that is that case. Talk about your workmanship, presentation and careful shipping. It is however not in your best interest to talk about others by user name on your ME page in a negative light,that's what the feedback process is for afterall or hash it out in private, the rest of eBay doesn't need to know about your gripes with someone else. Even general blanket statements that undercut other sellers that sell similar items to yours are also a turnoff. On the other hand, RECOMMENDING other sellers is great, there is nothing wrong with admiring others and being the customer of other designers who may be competition to you, it says something about your character.

3)Get personal. If you like, talk about your family, your children, where you live if you feel comfortable with that. Not everyone wants to share intimate details of their family life over the internet which is completely fine. But a brief introduction of yourself even if you just mention your first name and how long you’ve been selling,etc, that’s at least something personal for your customers to read about you.

4) Cut down on the negativity. Yes, we’ve all been burned on eBay but harping on and on about non-paying bidders and your overly strict buyer policies,etc. will only serve to turn people off. We need to let others know our terms but it can be done in a pleasant way that.

5)Hire a professional!! Of course this is where us graphic designers can toot our own horns!! Having a professional graphic designer do your ME page is a great investment. It’s not that expensive and it give you peace of mind that the impression you are giving your buyers is super polished and professional.

A graphic designer can help you with professional looking template layout, logos and picture editing as wel. We also have neat ways to get your customers to look at your other auctions, feedback or even perhaps an outside website. It can not only add traffic to your auctions but maybe just a few extra sales which is just what you want!!By Lynda(shabby*baby)
